Stellar is an open source network for currency and payments. Stellar makes it possible to create, send, and trade electronic forms of money—dollars, pesos, bitcoins, and others. It enables financial systems around the world to collaborate on a single network.
Stellar has no private owners, its ownership belongs to the public. Its software runs on a decentralized open network and processes millions of transactions per day. Similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum, Stellar relies on the blockchain to keep the network in sync, but the end-user experience is more like using cash - Stellar is faster, cheaper and more efficient than those typical blockchain-based system projects.
